Science Hub

Welcome to the Clean Bay Collective Science Hub — your place to submit data, explore results, and learn how to get involved in local bay science.

Collect Water Quality Data

Help track water quality in Alamitos Bay through our community science program. Collect simple data, learn about bay conditions, and contribute to a shared understanding of how this place is changing.

Map Trash Pollution Hotspots

Join us in mapping trash pollution hotspots so our community can take strategic, root-cause action for the Bay. Together, we tackle the sources, not just the symptoms.

Document Nature in our Bay

Help document the abundance of life in Alamitos Bay by sharing wildlife observations through our iNaturalist project. Every photo helps build a shared record of the bay as a living ecosystem.

Join the Wildlife Team

Join our Community Science and Action Events

Connect with neighbors, learn simple field skills, and take part in hands-on actions that help us understand and steward Alamitos Bay.

Why this Science Matters

Alamitos Bay is constantly changing — tides, currents, runoff, weather, and human activity all shape the water we live beside. Traditional research can’t capture every moment or every corner of the bay. That’s why local observations and simple sampling matter.

When residents collect water samples, note conditions, or report what they see on the shoreline, we gain a clearer picture of how the bay is responding to both natural dynamics and human impacts. These contributions help identify pollution hotspots, track trends, support educational programs, and guide deeper research.

Every sample and observation becomes part of a living record of our urban ocean — built by the people who care about it most.
